Crystal Falls: Ethel G. Pettit, age 86, of Buck Lake District, died Wednesday, June 16, 2004, at the home of her daughter and son-in-law. She was born December 30, 1917, in Wausau, WI, daughter of the late August and Marie (Behnke) Tietz. She married Claude Pettit in 1942, in Detroit, MI, and he preceded her in death in 1987. Ethel moved to the Crystal Falls area in 2001, and made her home with her daughter and son-in-law. She had a great love for flower gardening, puzzles of any kind, playing bingo, and traveling. Survivors include a son James of Sacramento, CA; a daughter Patricia (Richard) Herkimer of Crystal Falls; grandchildren T.Sgt. Kristina Shute of Bittburg, Germany, Curtis Maas, Constance LaGrant, Wendy Kaschynyc, Tammy Bott, Sherry Bashaw, all of lower Michigan; a sister Virginia Zastrow of Wausau, WI; and a brother Harold also of Wisconsin. Besides her parents and husband Claude, she was preceded in death by a daughter Carol LaGrant, four brothers and one sister. Private family visitation services were held.
