Crystal Falls-Esther F. Mackay, age 96, of Crystal Falls, Mich., passed away Thursday, May 10, 2018, at Aspirus Hospital, Iron River, Mich.
She was born January 13, 1922, in Crystal Falls, daughter of the late Carl and Florence (Peters) Pearson. Esther attended school at Forest Park and graduated in 1941 from Crystal Falls High School. She worked at the F & S store for a year after graduation and then worked for the Michigan Bell Telephone as an operator for 4 years. On May 24, 1946, she became the bride of Arthur G. Mackay at the Lutheran Church in Carlsbad, New Mexico. He preceded her in death on September 25, 2005. She was a member of Christ United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women.
Esther was a caregiver and enjoyed socializing. She was a hard worker, having worked for Dr. Miller's office as a secretary, the Conner IGA, the motel business and had a paper route.
Survivors include one son, Robert Mackay, Arizona; daughter in law, Kris; four grandchildren, Jason Panchalk, Clint Mackay, Marley (MacKay) Bautista and Dexter Mackay; six great-grandchildren, Josie and Nathan Peterson, Cooper and Carli Mackay, Aria and Pearson Bautista; one great-great grandchild, Xavier Peterson; sister in law, Karen Pearson; nieces and nephews and cousins; and special friends Robert and Margie Surface and family, Rick and Brenda Womer, Rick and Kathy Haile and family, Jim and Marcia Heron and family, Don and daughter Shana Fredrickson, and Rose Fortin.
In addition to her parents and husband, Arthur, Esther was preceded in death by a younger brother, James Pearson in 2004.
Graveside services for Esther will take place Saturday, May 26, 2018, at 11:30 a.m. at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery, Crystal Falls, Mich.
