Eric M. Barker, 47, of Florence, Wis., passed away peacefully February 23, 2008, at his home surrounded by family, after a long struggle with pancreatic cancer.
He was born March 31, 1960, in Milwaukee, Wis., son of Marvin and Opal (Lytle) Barker. Eric was raised in Pembine, Wis. and graduated from Pembine High School in 1978. He moved to Kingsford, Mich. and later to Florence. He was a member of American Martyrs Catholic Church, Kingsford.
Eric was a devoted father who loved the great outdoors. Hunting and fishing were his passion. He was self-employed as a logger for many years and later worked in tree removal and landscaping. Eric was a hard worker, he gave 110 percent for anything he did. He will be missed by many.
He is survived by his lifelong partner, Catherine Barker; four children, Stacy (Brian) Bruno, Nickolaus, Daniel, Andrew; mother, Opal Barker; brother, Mark (Nancy); sister, Louise (Dale) Wender; mother and father-in-law, Mark & Carol Manowski; three brothers-in-law; three sisters-in-law; many nieces and nephews.
Eric was preceded in death by his father, Marvin Barker.
Visitation will be Thursday, February 28, 2008, from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM, at American Martyrs Catholic Church. The Memorial Mass will be celebrated Thursday 11:00 AM, at the church. Fr. Joseph Gouin will officiate. Burial will be in Pembine Cemetery, in the spring.
