Emma L. Riverside, age 91, of Crystal Falls, died Thursday, September 7, 2006, at her home.
She was born March 4, 1915, in Crystal Falls, daughter of the late Edward and Mary (Braun) Claus. On May 16, 1959, she married Hugo J. Riverside in Crystal Falls. He preceded her in death on January 12, 1992.
Emma was a lifelong resident of Crystal Falls, was an active and faithful member of the United Lutheran Church, did housekeeping in the area for many years and retired from the former Crystal Manor where she worked in the kitchen.
Survivors include one brother, David (Ruth) Claus, Crystal Falls; three step-daughters, Frances Larys, Traverse City, Patricia Guidone, Wis., Mary Jane Soderberg, Crystal Falls; two step-sons, Pete Robarge, Iron Mountain, Walter Riverside, Iron River; many grandchildren, great grandchildren; one brother-in-law, Oliver Bruce, Crystal Falls; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and her beloved "Lucky".
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one sister, Clara Bruce, one brother, Donald Claus; two step-daughters, Marie Miller, Joselyn Schmelebeck; and three step-sons, Alfred Robarge, Bill Robarge, and Ramon Riverside.
Visitation will be 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. Monday, September 11, 2006, at United Lutheran Church, Crystal Falls. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday at the church. Rev. Michael Laakko will officiate. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery, Crystal Falls.
