Iron Mountain-Ellen M. Hesselink, age 75, of Pembine, Wisc., passed away Saturday, July 30, 2016 at Manor Care in Kingsford, Mich. She was born January 20, 1941 in Sheboygan, Wisc., to the late Edward and Jennie (Markus) Kaat. Ellen grew up in Sheboygan County, Wisc. She married Vilas Hesselink on March 28, 1961 at the little brown church in Iowa.
Ellen worked at Heritage Nursing Home as a CNA for many years. In 2001, she along with her husband pursued their dream of building a log home in the woods and moved to Pembine to enjoy retirement.
Ellen was an artist and was a commissioned oil and water color painter. She found beauty in so many things, especially nature, and just couldn't resist collecting a little bit of everything.
Ellen is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, Vilas Hesselink; three sons, Jerry (Rose) Hesselink of Oostburg, Wisc., Dean Hesselink of Iowa and Matthew (Linda Berg) Hesselink of Marinette, Wisc.; three daughters, Elizabeth (Dwayne) Pocian of Plymouth, Wisc., Sandra (Jack) Star of Texas and Gerilyn Perronne of Medford, Wisc.; two brothers, Robert (Jeannie) Kaat of Sheboygan County and James (Pauline) Kaat of Plymouth, Wisc.; one sister, Judith Kremer of Texas; seven grandchildren; Heather, Kelly, Katie, Jamie (Brian), Kyle (Shannon), Candice and Summer; eight great-grandchildren, Sydney, Kody, Daniel, Matt, Molly, Maggie, Ellyn and Garrett; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and one brother, Edward Kaat.
Memorial Services will be held at 4:00 P.M. on Friday (August 5, 2016) at the Suchon Funeral Home in Plymouth, Wisc.
In lieu of flowers Ellen's family is establishing a memorial fund in her name.
Visitation will take place on Friday (Aug. 5) from 2:00 P.M. until the time of services.
