Ella Bartsch, 82, of Florence, passed away Saturday, March 22, 2008, at Dickinson County Hospital, Iron Mountain. She was born May 6, 1925, in Stambaugh, Mich., daughter of the late Theodore and Dora (Borns) Olson. Ella attended school in Stambaugh. Ella loved to sing, play cards, and socialize. She served as president of the "Young at Heart" for 19 years, as secretary for the VFW Auxillary for 18 years, and as chairperson for the Town of Commonwealth. She was a bartender for the Our Bar and for (Honey's) J&J Bar. Ella was quite a lady and will be greatly missed. She is survived by four daughters, Phyllis (Allen) Novak, Linda McCoy, Sandy McCoy, Shirley (Scott) Waite, all of Florence; two sons, Dan (Debbie) McCoy, Rick (Renee) McCoy, both of Florence; one sister, Effie Olson, Appleton, Wis.; 20 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; her lifelong, dear friend, Doris; and two brothers-in-law, Wade Comish, Fred Hill, both of Iron River, Mich. Besides her parents, Ella was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Bartsch; two daughters, Rosalie and Nora; three sisters, Erma Hill, Eleanore Meyers, Elaine Comish; two brothers, Everette Olson, Elroy Olson; two granddaughters, Lashawnda McCoy, Amanda McCoy; and grandson, Dustin McCoy. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM, Saturday, April 5, 2008, at the First Presbyterian Church, Florence. Rev. Doug Johnson will officiate. Burial will be in Commonwealth Cemetery, Commonwealth,Wis.
