Obituary

IRON MOUNTAIN — Elizabeth "Betty" Larson, 78, of Iron Mountain, died peacefully in the loving arms of her four sons on Sunday, Sept. 8, 2002, at St. Mary Hospital in Racine, Wis. Betty was born Dec. 12, 1923, in Racine, daughter of the late William and Ann (Lotharius) Klingenmeyer. She grew up in Racine, Wis. She married Ernest Larson on Oct. 30, 1942, and he preceded her in death on July 27, 2002. Betty, along with her husband, Ernie, had lived in Iron Mountain since 1970. Betty retired from WJNR radio station in 1996. She was a member of St. Mary Queen of Peace Church in Kingsford, a charter member of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church of Racine, the American Legion Auxiliary for 21 years and a life member of the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary. Betty is survived by her children, Ernest A. Larson III and his wife, Pam of Racine, Wis.; William A. Larson of Racine, Wis.; David A. Bongiovani (Larson) and his wife, Rose of Madison, Wis. and Dennis A. Larson and his wife, Barb of Iron Mountain. She has 11 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Her grandchildren, of whom she was so proud of, are Ernest's children, Carolyn (Rick) Kirskmann of Portland, Ore., Erick (Renee) Dunn of Racine, Wis. and AnnMarie (Steve) Fleishman of Brooksville, Fla.; William's children, Gavin Larson and Joshua Larson, both of Racine and Kristen (Dale) Zuzek of Rice Lake, Wis.; David's children, Jamie Larson and Sierra and Alexia Bongiovani all of Madison, Wis.; Dennis' children, Todd Larson of Grand Forks Air Force Base, N.D. and Stephanie (Jason) Sobel of Cary, N.C.; a brother, Richard (Dorothy) Klingenmeyer of Sturtevent, Wis.; a sister, Mary Danoski of Fox Lake, Wis. and a sister-in-law, Betty Klingenmeyer of Racine. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Walter Klingenmeyer. Visitation will be held Thursday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Jacobs Funeral Home in Iron Mountain. The American Legion Auxiliary service will be held Thursday at 6:15 p.m. and a prayer service at 6:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held Friday at 9:30 a.m. a the funeral home and the Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10 a.m. at St. Mary Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Kingsford. Fr. Michael Woempner will officiate. Burial will be in Cemetery Park in Iron Mountain. In lieu of flowers, a memorial can be made to Miranda Otto, grandniece of Betty, who suffers from cerebral palsy and forwarded to Mary Danoski W0919 Black Hawk Trail, Fox Lake, Wis. 53933. The family is being served by the Jacobs Funeral Home of Iron Mountain.
