Elaine I. Pretto, 85, of Crystal Falls, passed away Monday, May 21, 2012, at Northstar Health System, Iron River. She was born September 24, 1926, in Iron Mountain, Mich., daughter of the late Oscar and Della (Dohrmann) Shoquist. Elaine was a lifelong resident of Crystal Falls. Elaine Married Ernest "Ticker" Pretto. He preceded her in death on November 19, 1986. She is survived by two daughters, Carol Shefky, Waukesha, Wis., Janice Pretto, New Orleans, La., three grandchildren, Julie (David) Hanrahan, Hartford, Wis., Debbie (Bob) Peterson, Howards Grove, Wis., Jay Shefky, Waukesha; three great-grandchildren, Lyndsay and Jordan Peterson, Claire Hanrahan; brother- and sister-in-law, Dick and Nancy Mettlach; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Along with her parents and husband, Elaine was preceded in death by one daughter, Candy Karnack; one brother, Eugene; two sons-in law Robert Karnack and David Shefky. A graveside service will be held 11:30 a.m., Friday, May 25, 2012, at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery, Crystal Falls. Rev. Carolyn Orchard will officiate.
