Effie I. McCraw, 83, of Florence, Wis., passed away Tuesday, May 26, 2009, at the Golden Living Center, Florence. She was born October 4, 1925, in Florence, daughter of the late Percy and Zelphia (Bailey) Taff. Effie married the late Ernest L. McCraw on February 14, 1947. She was a life long resident of Florence and will be sadly missed by many close friends and relatives. She loved spending time with her grandchildren Gina, Tara, Jill, and Nicole and her great-grandchildren Lily Anne and Brooklyn. Effie enjoyed playing cards, fishing and entertaining friends and relatives and had many special memories of her times working with her sister Anna at Anna's restaurant in Florence. She was an active member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Florence. Effie is the beloved mother of one daughter, Donna (Bill) Thomas; two sons, Roger (Lillian) McCraw, David McCraw; daughter-in-law, Linda McCraw; she is also survived by a sister, Anna Podnar; two brothers, William and Roy; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two sons, Ernest E. and Gregory McCraw; five sisters, Mary, Evelyn, Beatrice, Eva, and Hazel; three brothers, Edward, Jack, and Willard. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday, 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church, Florence. Rev. Raymond Valerio will officiate. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery, Commonwealth, Wis.
