Florence:
Edward P. Taff, age 89, of Florence, Wisconsin, was called home by our Lord, Sunday, June 19, 2005, at the home of his son.
He was born July 27, 1915, in Alpha, MI, the son of the late Percy Ernest and Zelphia Bell (Bailey) Taff. He attended Florence Schools, worked in the CCC's and was in the US Army during World War II in the Philippines. On April 19, 1940, he married Doris Christine Kasten in Dubuque, Iowa. She preceded him in death in 1987. He was a Commissioner of Florence Water and Light. He owned and operated Taff Electric for over twenty years and also owned and operated Menominee River Camp Ground where he had tubing and canoeing, for over fifteen years. Edward was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church of Florence. He was active in the Labor Day Parades, and also was a founding member of the snowmobile club. He served as Commander of the American Legion Post 211 of Florence, where he was a member for over 55 years; he also was past commander of the County American Legion as well as a member of 40 and 8. He taught archery and had an archery range for the public to use. He started the original archery club. He was active in the Volunteer Fire Department for over twenty years.
Survivors include one son Dale Edward (Marlene) Taff, three daughters; Christine Dee Trudell (Bernie) Klescewski, Mary Ann (Alan) Lemanski, and Pattie Marie (Robert) Gehlhoff, sixteen grandchildren, forty-six great grandchildren, and five great great grandchildren, two brothers Roy and Billy, three sisters Effie, Hazel, and Anna.
Besides his parents and wife Doris, he was preceded by two brothers Willard and Jack and four sisters Mary, Eva, Beatrice, and Evelyn.
Visitation will be Wednesday, June 22, 2005, from 5 – 7 p.m. at the Jacobs Lundholm Funeral Home of Florence. The American Legion Post 211 of Florence will have their services at 6:45p.m. Visitation will be from 10:00 – 11:00 Thursday, at the First Presbyterian Church in Florence. Funeral services will be Thursday at 11:00a.m. at the church. Pastor Doug Johnson and Pastor David Wallis will concelebrate. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in Florence, Wisconsin.
