Edward F. Mills, 75, of Iron Mountain, Mich., passed away Sunday, January 16, 2011, at Dickinson County Healthcare System, Iron Mountain.
He was born on March 16, 1935, in Aurora, Wis., son of the late Frank and Rose (Vlach) Mills. Ed grew up in Aurora and attended Golden Rule Elementary School and later Kingsford High School. He married Joanne Gianunzio on June 2, 1973, in Iron Mountain. They resided in Aurora on the Mill's family farm before moving to Iron Mountain in 1976.
Ed ran the family farm in Aurora until 1972, at which time he began working at Trico retiring from there in the mid-1980s. The last year, Ed was a resident at Pinecrest Nursing Home, Powers, where he enjoyed his time with the residents and staff, and he always enjoyed the many field trips and singing karaoke.
Ed loved watching football, listening to country music, and especially spending time with family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Joanne; one daughter, Janice Mills, Iron Mountain; one sister, Shirley Wolsker, Aurora; numerous nieces and nephews.
Ed was preceded in death by one brother, George Douglas Mills; two sisters, Beatrice Malmberg Flesch and Bonnie Doggett.
The visitation will be held Friday, January 21, 2011, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Jacobs Funeral Home, Iron Mountain. Funeral services will be Friday, 12:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Rev. Fr. Raymond Valerio will officiate. Burial will be in Breitung Township Cemetery, Quinnesec, Mich.
Pallbearers will be Lenny Martin, Kurt Martin, Joe Mills, George Mills, Joe Testolin, and Bob Flesch.
