Edward Maitz, 79, of Niagara, Wis., passed away Sunday, May 24, 2009, at Maryhill Manor, Niagara.
Edward was born July 17, 1929, in West Allis, Wis., son of the late Frank and Margaret (Spiller) Maitz. He married Joan Zarcone in 1962 – they were later divorced. In 1984, he married Janet (Goshaw-Kron) at St. Mary Catholic Church, Waukesha, Wis. They lived in Waukesha and Edward worked for Rexnord in West Milwaukee, he retired in 1992, at which time they moved to Niagara.
He was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church, Niagara; Knights of Columbus Council #2847, Niagara; and Bishop Baraga Fourth Degree Knights. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and all nature had to offer.
He is survived by his wife, Janet; one son, Steven (Chris) Maitz, West Bend, Wis.; one daughter, Susan (John) Carini, West Allis; six step-children Laurie (Edward) Walkowiak, Milwaukee, Wis., Joanne (Timothy) Nichols, East Troy, Wis., Barbara Kron, Wauwatosa, Wis., Kathleen (Kenneth) Mikulec, Hartford, Wis., Tim (Keri) Kron, Ixonia, Wis., William (Eileen) Kron, Waukesha; 12 step-grandchildren; three step-great grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Virginia Maitz, West Allis; two brothers-in-law, James (Ellen) Goshaw, Kenosha, Wis., Loren Goshaw, Ft. Atkinson, Wis.; many other family members and friends.
In addition to his parents, Edward was preceded in death by his brother, Frank and step-mother, Anna.

Visitation will be Thursday, May 28, 2009, from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Niagara. The Bishop Baraga Fourth Degree will offer a Memorial Service, 10:45 a.m. at the Church. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday 11:00 a.m., at the church. The Fourth Degree will stand Honor Guard and serve as pallbearers. Father Matt Settle will officiate. Burial will be in Niagara Cemetery.
