Iron Mountain: Edward F. Khoury age 91, passed away Saturday, March 25, 2006 at Manor Care Health Services in Kingsford, Michigan. Edward was born on June 16, 1914 in Iron Mountain, Michigan, son of the late Samuel and Susie (Brady) Khoury. He married Marian Massage on July 5, 1940 in Iron Mountain. She preceded him in death on January 13, 1994. Ed was one of the first to be drafted into service in the area. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII. Ed became a Captain commanding many men in all parts of the world, from England to Australia, and the European theatre. While in the service Ed had a dream of coming home and owning his own business. Upon returning home, he contacted his brothers Harry and Jim with his dream and the three of them became involved in building Khoury Brothers, Inc. on the North side of Iron Mountain. His nephew Dan owns and operates Khoury Inc. today. Ed was a builder of many things throughout his lifetime and loved the challenges that it brought. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and always had wild game available to enjoy. His love was his wife, family and friends, and spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren which were so special to him. Ed was a member of St. Mary's Orthodox Church, Iron Mountain-Kingsford Masonic Lodge, Ahmed Shrine Temple, Iron Mountain-Kingsford Rotary Club, Iron Mountain Elks Lodge, Lions Club, Merriman Sportsman's Club which he helped charter with his brother Harry, Michigan Small Business Association, served on the Iron Mountain City Council and spearheaded a Chapter for the Blind for Iron Mountain through contacts in Lansing. He is survived by one daughter, Sharon (Clifford) "Sonny" Swanson of Merriman, two brothers, James "Jimmy"(Margie) Khoury of Iron Mountain and John "Jack" (Rosemary) Khoury of Florida and Iron Mountain, two grandchildren, Kory E. Khoury and Kaylan (Scott) Baron. Four great grandchildren, Branden, Cody, Brooke and Bailey. Besides his parents and his wife Marian, Ed was preceded by one brother, Harry Khoury, three sisters, Carmella El Khoury, Elaine Skaff and Viola Franz. Visitation will be Friday, March 31, 2006 from 10:00a.m. to 11:00a.m. at the Jacobs Funeral Home in Iron Mountain. Memorial prayers will be recited Friday 11:00a.m. at the funeral home. Fr. Mark Hagan will officiate. Burial will be in Cemetery Park in Iron mountain.
