Crystal Falls - Edna Louise "Lou" McCreary, 101, of Crystal Falls, Mich., passed away Monday, April 4, 2022, at the Iron County Medical Care Facility.
She was born December 1, 1920, in Crystal Falls, daughter of the late William and Edna (Johnson) Jacka. Lou grew up and attended school in Crystal Falls, where she played the cello in the high school orchestra and was a member of the glee club. She then went on to receive her B.S. degree in secondary teaching from Eastern Michigan University. Lou married Jack McCreary in September 1942. They lived in Grosse Ile, Michigan, and Long Beach, California, before returning to Crystal Falls permanently in 1974, where they enjoyed their retirement on Fortune Lake.
Survivors include her son, Rod (Linda) McCreary, Long Beach, Calif.; nine grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Jack, Lou was preceded in death by two daughters, Priscilla Schowalter and Charlean Simmons; two sisters, Margery Strand and Naomi Robinson; and her best friend and companion, Robert Flood Sr.
