Edith Gustafson, 96, of Crystal Falls, died Saturday, March 10, 2007, at the Iron County Medical Care Facility, Crystal Falls.
She was born Edith Sandri, September 10, 1910, in Italy. In 1929, she married Edward Gustafson. He preceded her in death on May 3, 1985.
Edith lived in Amasa for several years and from 1947 to 1975 lived in Chicago where her husband was in the construction business. The couple moved back to Crystal Falls in 1975. She was a senior volunteer, enjoyed playing cribbage and was named Crystal Falls, Woman of the Year. Edith was an avid Cubs fan, traveled to watch the Cubs play at all the National League ballparks, and attended her last game, a double-header, at the age of 94.
Survivors include two sisters, Prena Thomas of Florida, Bertina Heybrock of Chicago; two brothers, Arthur Sandri of Chicago, Robert Sandri of Crystal Falls, other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be 9:30 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 14, 2007, at Guardian Angels Catholic Church, Crystal Falls. The funeral mass will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at the church. Rev. Dino Silvestrini will officiate. Burial will be in the Evergreen Memorial Cemetery, Crystal Falls.
