Crystal Falls – Earl W. Gigstead, 85, of Crystal Falls, Mich. died Thursday, October 17, 2019, at Iron County Medical Care Facility, Crystal Falls. Earl was born on January 22, 1934, in Sturgeon Bay, Wisc., son of the late Oscar and Mable (Nelson) Gigstead. He grew up and attended school in Indiana. Earl married Norrine Schindler on April 23, 1955, in Panama City, Fla.; she preceded him in death on January 7, 2003. He was employed by the Crystal Falls Fire Department for 22 years, retiring February 1, 1994. Earl was a life member of Tufts-Rondon VFW Post #2891, Crystal Falls. Earl collected gold coins, loved horses and enjoyed big band music. He is survived by one daughter Peggy (John Kukura) Gigstead, Crystal Falls, Mich.; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife, Norrine, Earl was preceded in death by four brothers, Gilbert, Elman, Alton and Roger Gigstead; and by one sister, Betty Stoger. Visitation will be Wednesday, October 23, 2019, 10:30 AM until 11:00 AM at the Jacobs-Plowe Funeral Home, Crystal Falls, Mich., the Eastside Veterans, Tufts-Rondin VFW Post #2891 will accord military honors, 11:00 AM at the funeral home.
