Earl R. Annear, 91, of Iron Mountain, passed away Friday, November 12, 2010, at Oscar G. Johnson VA Medical Center, Iron Mountain.
He was born June 16, 1919, in Alpha Mich., son of the late Alvin and Ann (Eade) Annear. Earl married the former Rose Wagner on April 19, 1947, in Detroit; she preceded him in death on October 1, 2008.
Earl served in the United States Army from 1944 to 1946 when he was honorably discharged. He and Rose resided in Detroit where he worked as an auto mechanic. They later moved to Vermont and then back to Detroit before settling in Kingsford in 1964. Earl worked for Foley Martens as a mill rite for fourteen years, retiring in 1986.
He enjoyed many hobbies including hunting and fishing. Earl especially loved spending time with his family
Survivors include three sons, Neil (Carol) Annear, Breitung Twp., Earl Annear, Iron Mountain, Keith (Cindy) Annear, Quinnesec, Mich.; two daughters, Susan (David) Sundholm, Felch, Mich., Diane Burrell, Woodhaven, Mich.; one sister, Barbara Conery, Iron Mountain; thirteen grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
Earl was preceded in death by two brothers, Keith and Jack Annear; three sisters, Luella Erickson, Jeanette Blackberg, and Betty Lund.
A graveside service will be held Thursday, November 18, 2010, 11a.m. at Dickinson County Memorial Gardens in Iron Mountain. The Felch Breen VFW Post No. 4803 will accord military honors Thursday 11a.m. at the cemetery. Rev. Joe Bosso will officiate.
