Duane George Tober, age 79, of Florence, Wisconsin, passed away Wednesday, October 18, 2006, at Bellin Advanced Care in Green Bay, Wisconsin. He was born June 11, 1927, in Rhinelander, Wis., son of the late Marvin and Esther (Bruso) Tober. He married Diane Huberty July 23, 1966, in Milwaukee, Wis. She survives. Duane attended Rhinelander schools and graduated from Rhinelander High School in 1944. He joined the United States Air Force during World War II. He attended Lawrence College and in 1951 received his degree in music. Duane played in many bands throughout Wisconsin and Illinois. He taught instrumental music in different Wisconsin schools from 1951 until 1976. In 1976, he along with his wife Diane, purchased the Keyes Lake Trading Post in Florence and operated the business until they retired in 2001. He loved to fly fish, listen to music and was an avid reader. He is survived by his wife, Diane; one brother, Keith (Marilyn) Tober; one sister, Karen Tober both of Rhinelander; brother in law, Don (Marilyn) Huberty of Campbellsport, Wis; four nieces, Mary (Rich) Huberty, Mickey (Brian) Beaster, Bridget (David) Schlaefer and Shannon Huberty; one nephew, Bob Tober; three great nieces, Dorothy and Bridget Schlaefer and Amy (Chris) Theel; and one great nephew, Jeff Beaster.
