Obituary

Duaine G. "Red" Harding, 82, Spread Eagle, Wis., passed away Saturday, August 28, 2010, at the Sunrise Assisted Living Center in lower Michigan. He was born July 12, 1928, son of the late Walton and Mildred Harding. Red was a retired teacher and administrator for Utica Public Schools with 34 years of dedicated service. He also served in the United States Air Force. Red was a former resident of Romeo , Mich., for 34 years. He currently resided in Ft. Myers, Fla. and had a summer residence in Spread Eagle. Red was an active member of Trinity United Methodist Church of Iron Mountain, the Chippewa Club, the Masonic Lodge of Romeo, and Past-President of the Spread Eagle Lake Association. Red enjoyed many hobbies including, golfing, playing bridge, traveling and especially spending time with his family. He is survived by his wife Mary Ann; one daughter, Sherri (John) Ross; one son, Dr. John (Carole) Harding; one sister, Wanda Trumble; four grandchildren, John and Adam Ross, Andrew and Alex Harding. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Packy Eckola. Pallbearers will be Carl Sunberg, John Lillie, Lee Larsen, Ellwood Anderson, Ed Patrick and Les Horngren. Memorials can be made to Trinity United Methodist Church or the Duaine Harding Scholarship Fund, Iron Mountain High School. Visitation will be Friday, September 3, 2010, from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. at Jacobs Funeral Home, Iron Mountain. Funeral Services will be Friday, 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Pastor Jim Britt will officiate. Burial will be in Cemetery Park, Iron Mountain.
