Crystal Falls – Douglas Howard Groop, 71, of Crystal Falls, Mich., passed away on Wednesday, December 25, 2024, at his home in Crystal Falls.

He was born on December 17, 1953, in Crystal Falls, Mich., to the late Howard and Linda (Mills) Groop.

Douglas spent his entire life in the Crystal Falls area and graduated from Forest Park High School. After high school, he went on to work for West Wood Supper Club, then the local sawmill, before finishing his career doing carpentry work.

Douglas was an avid Green Bay Packers fan who enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending his time with his family.

He is survived by his son, Brandon (Tisha) Groop, Crystal Falls, Mich.; daughters, Deana Groop, Marquette, Mich., and Mary Groop, Crystal Falls, Mich.; aunt, Diana Bertola, Crystal Falls, Mich.; sisters, Diana (Jim) Waligursky, Crystal Falls, Mich., Sherry Hegstrom, Crystal Falls, Mich., and Cindy (Tom) Dean, Riverdale, Mich., grandchildren, Kaylee Cadotte, Crystal Falls, Mich., Brody McBee, Crystal Falls, Mich., and Spencer Groop, Crystal Falls, Mich.; and by numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Douglas is preceded in death by his grandparents, Tressa and Ernest West and Everett and Mary Groop.

A Celebration of life will be held at a later date.
