Douglas L. Cole, 71, of Long Lake, Wis., passed away on Sunday, February 7, 2010, at Dickinson County Healthcare System, Iron Mountain, following a courageous battle with lung cancer.
Douglas was born September 5, 1938 in Long Lake, son of the late Howard and Vera (Smith) Cole. He graduated from Florence High School, Class of 1957. Douglas married the former Barbara Roberts on July 7, 1962, at St. Norbert Catholic Church, Long Lake. They made their home in Milwaukee, Wis., until retiring back to the Long Lake area.
He loved spending time with his family, especially the time spent with his granddaughters. Douglas also enjoyed being outdoors fishing, hunting, and four-wheeling with his dog, Sassy.
He is survived by a daughter, Ginny (Robin) Haebig, Norway, Mich.; two granddaughters, Ashley and Brittany Haebig; a brother, Brad Cole, Rhinelander, Wis.; a sister, Bonnie (Jim) Lewis, Long Lake; mother-in-law, Mary Roberts, of Stambaugh, Mich.; sisters-in-law, Sue Wells, Tipler, Wis., Kathy Barber, Long Lake, Judy (Tom) Huffman, Florence, Edythe Roberts, Long Lake; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Douglas was preceded in death by his wife Barbara Cole, on June 20, 2008; and his step-father, William Cox.

A Memorial Mass will be held 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, February 10, 2010, at St. Norbert Catholic Church, Long Lake. Rev. John Cerkas will officiate.
