Florence: Dorothy Tobey-Gilbert, age 84, of Florence, passed away Friday, May 6, 2005, at Dickinson County Healthcare System in Iron Mountain. She was born January 24, 1921, in Escanaba, Michigan, the daughter of the late Peter and Evangline (Bourgouine) DeRouin. She joined the U S Women's Army Air Corp in March of 1943, during World War II. She married Albert Tobey Sr. on September 3, 1943, while in the Air Corp. They lived in Orange, California until they moved back to Iron Mountain in 1987. He preceded her in death on October 19, 1991. She married Edward Gilbert on May 30, 1997. She loved to sing and dance and was an avid roller skate dancer. She loved to entertain and travel. She enjoyed going to Kmart early every morning with her husband and visiting friends. She is survived by her husband Edward, two sons Albert (Carol) Tobey Jr. of Kingsford, MI, Toby D. Tobey of Orange, California, a daughter Denise (Randy) Foltz of Florence, WI, a sister Honey (Jim) Delaire of Escanaba, MI, two brothers Stan (Tootie) Derouin of Washington State, Ted (Marcy) Derouin of Escanaba, MI, six grandchildren Josh (Kim) Tobey, Chris Tobey, Jessica Tobey, Brandon Foltz, Carrie Foltz (Fiance, Sean Bright), Alan Foltz and two great grandchildren McKenzie and MarlieTobey and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Monday May 9, from 3-6p.m. at the Jacobs Lundholm Funeral Home of Florence, WI. Funeral service will follow at 6:00p.m. at the funeral home. Pastor Doug Johnson will officiate. Burial will be at Gardens of Rest Cemetery in Escanaba, MI.
