Iron Mountain: Dorothy Jean Oien, age 84, of Iron Mountain, MI., died peacefully at her home on Christmas morning. Dorothy was born in Iron Mountain on May 23, 1919, the daughter of the late Delloar and Florence (Patrick) Gardner. She graduated from Kingsford High School in 1937. Dorothy married Frank Oien in 1956. She owned and operated Dorothy's Beauty Salon for over fifty years. Dorothy loved animals, cooking, traveling, and golfing. Her grandchildren called her "Grandma on the Lake". She is survived by her husband Frank; a daughter, Darlene (Kenneth) Lindstrom of Iron Mountain, a son, James (Darlene) Peebles of Kingsford; a sister, Delores Collies of Iron Mountain; seven grandchildren: Cynthia Lindstrom of Green Bay, WI., Lisa (Timothy) Danielson of Oshkosh, WI, Catherine (David) Lindsley of Green Bay, WI., Kenneth J. Lindstrom of Appleton, WI., Lori (Alan) Unger of Kingsford, MI., Shari (John) Van Remortel of Kingsford, MI., and Michael Peebles of Phoenix, AZ; nine great-grandchildren: Lindsay and Kristi Unger, Maclain, Jack and Nicholas Danielson, Alison and Bradley Van Remortel, and Noah and Aaron Lindsley; two nieces, one nephew and several cousins. Besides her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by her first husband Marvin Peebles, and one brother Albert Gardner. Visitation will be Monday, December 29, 2003, from 11:00 – 1:00p.m. at Jacobs Funeral Home. Funeral service will by Monday at1:00p.m. at the funeral home. Celebrant Robert Fuse will officiate. Pallbearers will be Kenneth J. Lindstrom, Michael Peebles, Alan Unger, Timothy Danielson, John Van Remortel, David Lindsley and Maclain Danielson.
