Doris "Dor" Constantini, 94, of Iron Mountain, passed away Friday, October 3, 2014, at Dickinson County Healthcare System, Iron Mountain, following a brief illness.
She was born April 14, 1920, in Iron Mountain, daughter of the late Anton and Angeline (Attocchi) DeMuri. Doris met her husband, Jay Constantini, at her father's tavern, the Venetian, on the Northside of Iron Mountain. She married Jay on July 20, 1946, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Iron Mountain. He preceded her in death on June 26, 2013.
Doris was employed at the Sewing Factory during World War II and in later years worked for Hancock Wood Products. Although she did not have children of her own, Doris was always interested in the lives of her family members. She will always be remembered for her smile, sense of humor and love of life. Doris was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, the Italian Women's Club and the Paisano Club. She enjoyed playing bingo and watching the Detroit Lions, Green Bay Packers and was an avid Chicago Cubs fan. Her day never started without scratching a lotto ticket at breakfast time and it was a well-known fact not to disturb her during Jeopardy.
She is survived by two sisters, Antoinette Kovachich, Ishpeming, Mich. and Adeline DeJuliannie, Iron Mountain; nieces, Carol (Ken) Schultz, Janet (Bob) Fredy, Mary Beth (Bruce) Casanova and Diane (Chuck) Graham, all of Iron Mountain, many other nieces and nephews and two sisters-in-law, Marie DeMuri and June Constantini, both of Iron Mountain.
In addition to her parents and husband Jay, Doris was preceded in death by three brothers, Geno, Gildo and Guido DeMuri; three sisters, Rena Anderson, Marie Stockero and Jean Koller and two nephews.
Visitation will be held Monday, October 6, 2014, from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the Jacobs Funeral Home, Iron Mountain. Prayers will be recited Monday, 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held, Monday, October 6, 2014, 11:00 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Church, Iron Mountain. Msgr. James Kaczmarek will officiate. Burial will be in Cemetery Park, Iron Mountain.
The family has chosen the Jacobs Funeral Home, Iron Mountain to honor Doris' Legacy of Life.
