Donna L. Warrick, 52, passed away November 26th, 2003, from injuries sustained in a car accident in Johannesburg, South Africa.
She was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on April 20th, 1951, the eldest daughter of Donald and Dorothy Grober. Her family moved to Florence, Wisconsin in 1968 where she graduated high school in 1969. Donna attended Northern Michigan University from 1979 to 1983, and graduated Summa Cum Laude, with a major in history and a minor in English. She went on to teach high school English and history at Southeast Fountain Central High School in Veedersburg, Indiana until 1988.
Donna joined the staff of Stephenson Area Public Schools in August of 1988, where she taught junior high geography and high school sociology, government, and english. While in Stephenson, Donna served as advisor to the annual staff, senior class, and National Honor Society for most of her tenure. She also served as chairperson to the social science department, and as a member of the English department. Donna was a member of St. Stephen's Lutheran Church in Stephenson, Michigan.
In 1996 Donna Co-organized an international education travel group consisting of students and adults of all ages. Her conviction that learning is a lifelong pursuit was distinctly manifested in these endeavors. Travel experiences that took participants to 30 countries over an eight-year period served to enlighten and enhance their awareness of the global community.
In 1999 Donna secured a teaching position with the American International School of Johannesburg, South Africa. As part of the faculty, she taught high school and was involved in the recruitment of new teachers.
Survivors include her father, Donald Grober of Florence, WI; son Ryan(Debra) of Manchester, MI; sisters Debra(Dale) Shivy of Marquette, Mi; Diane(Doug) Hansen of Iron Mountain, MI; and Doreen Grober of Florence, WI. She was preceded in death by her mother, Dorothy.
Visitation will be Tuesday, December 9, 2003, from 6-7PM at the Jacobs-Lundholm Funeral Home in Florence, Wisconsin. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, December 9, 2003, at 7pm at Jacobs-Lundholm Funeral Home, Hwy 2, in Florence, Wisconsin. Pastor David Christenson will officiate. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in Florence, Wisconsin.
