Iron Mountain:
Donald Dean Tousignant, age 70, of Iron Mountain passed away Saturday April 10, 2004 at St. Vincent Hospital in Green Bay, Wisconsin following a brief illness. Don was born on May 18, 1933 in Iron Mountain, Michigan, son of the late George and Hilder (Hanson) Tousignant.
Don is survived by his sons, Todd (Donna) and Ken (Scot) and daughter Cynthia Tousignant, grand children Zackery and Jake, Brother Gerald (Alice), and nephew Randy Tousignant.
Besides his parents he is preceded by, two brothers Allan who died during World War 2 on June 8, 1945 and Kenneth, who died in Korea on January 1, 1951.
Don married Maddy (Carollo) Tousignant on September 12, 1959 at Immaculate Conception Church and spent his life with her until his death.
Don was the President of Tousignant Drywall, Inc. which he founded in 1959, and continued to be active in the business until his retirement in 1996. Tousignant Drywall, Inc. was the Upper Peninsula's first Drywall and EIFS contractor and continues to thrive and grow under the direction of his son, Todd,
Don started his life long love of the game of golf at an early age as a caddy at Pine Grove Country Club. He continued to play throughout his life including playing as a member of Iron Mountain High School's 1950 and 1951 UP Class B championship golf teams.
He served his country in the U.S. Navy aboard the aircraft carrier U.S.S. Wasp. Don's life was filled with many loving friends and included a variety of interests. From cooking and entertaining at his camp, to spending times with his grandchildren, Don was a kind person who loved his family and friends and devoted his life to making them happy.
His generosity and sense of humor will be greatly missed by all who came in contact with him throughout his life.
Visitation will be Tuesday April 13, 2004 from 4-8PM at the Jacobs Funeral Home in Iron Mountain. Prayers will be recited Wednesday 9:30AM at the Jacobs Funeral Home with the Mass of Christian Burial to follow Wednesday 10AM at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Iron Mountain. Msgr. James Kaczmarek will officiate. The Uren-Cooper-Johnson American Post #50 will offer a full color guard at graveside. Burial will be in Cemetery Park in Iron Mountain.
Pallbearers will be; Ernie Zambon, Craig Mattson, Dave Mattson, Bob Mattson, Orville Winters, and Bill Lucas.
Memorial can be made to the Dickinson County Cancer Unit, 14011/2 South Carpenter Avenue, Iron Mountain, MI 49801 in his memory.
