Donald F. Schuirmann, age 75, of Homestead, Wis., passed away Wednesday, February 21, 2007, at Beverly Living Center, Florence, Wisc.
He was born January 13, 1932, in Homestead, son of the late Jacob and Cleora (Hillman) Schuirmann.
Primarily a lumberjack locally, he also worked as far west as Kansas. In addition, he did a stint as a competitor in rodeos for wild west shows, enjoyed hunting game, observing wild animals, and the out-of-doors, here in the north woods.
Survivors include two sons, Steve (Sally) Schuirmann, Munising, Mich., Jake Schuirmann, Kansas; nine daughters Donna (Paco) Barribeau, Quinnesec, Mich., twins Vonnie Nessinger, Kingsford, Mich. and Vicki (Guy) Forstrom, Quinnesec, Denise (Ron) Michaud, Felch, Mich., Charlene (Ed) Swenski, Iron River, Mich., Sherry (Don) McBride, Kingsford, Mary (Gary) Stamper, Quinnesec, Krystal Schuirmann, Kingsford, Sandy Schuirmann, Lower Mich.; five step-children; 28 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Ralph (Francis) Schuirmann, Homestead, Richard (Carol) Schuirmann, Homestead, Ed (Karen) Schuirmann, Kenosha, Wis.; two sisters, Marge (Larry) Carr, Stevenson, Mich., Barbara (Karl) Stayton, Camp Douglas, Wis.; many nephews, nieces; special friends, Harold (Alice ) Westman, Richard Verbick, Beverly Bryant, Dennis Barnard, and members of camp Cedar Inn, Homestead.
Besides his parents, Don was preceded in death by one son, David Schuirmann; one grandson, Michael Nessinger; one brother Jim Schuirmann; two sisters, Kate Larson, Geraldine Sleeter; four nephews, Terry and Dan Sleeter, Neal and Dennis Schuirmann; two brothers-in-law, Ken Larson and Wilbert Sleeter.
Visitation will be Saturday, February 24, 2007, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, at Jacobs-Lundholm Funeral Home, Florence. The funeral service will be Saturday, 2:00 PM, at the funeral home. Rev. Doug Johnson will officiate.
