Obituary

Donald Dwain Morton, 72, of Amberg, Wis., passed away Wednesday, May 12, 2010, at Dickinson County Healthcare System, Iron Mountain. He was born March 6, 1938, in Redford, Mo., son of the late Sidney and Mary (Davis) Morton. Don was raised in Detroit, Mich. and Waterloo, Ill. He graduated from Waterloo High School, Class of 1956. Don served in the United States Navy as an Air Traffic Controller from 1956 to 1966. He married Nancy Miller-Orlopp on December 23, 2001, in Pewaukee, Wis. Don worked at Hallmark Personal, Ill., for a short period of time before working at Symons Corporation, Pewaukee, as a Regional Sales Manager, where he managed six states and part of Canada. He worked for Symons Corporation for 34 years, before retiring in 2005. After retirement, Don and Nancy moved to Amberg, where he built a log home. He enjoyed spending time on his land with his German Shepherd, Chance. Don was also very proud of his Sioux Indian heritage. Don is survived by his wife, Nancy Morton; one son, Steven Morton, Laughlin, Nev.; two daughters, Kim Allport, Paragould, Ark., Debbie (Johnny Fischer) DeBauche, Darboy, Wis.; one step-son, Joshua Orlopp, Milwaukee, Wis.; one step-daughter, Tanya Orlopp, Indianapolis, Ind.; one brother, Frank (Mattie) Farrell, Louisville, Ky.; ten grandchildren, Brooke and Don DeBauche, Alise and Justin Morton, Misty, Melissa, and Amanda Allport, Cayden Wahab, Jonathan and Ethan Strickland; five great-grandchildren; one nephew, Donnie Morton; and his former wife of 40 years, Patricia Johnson-Morton, Waukesha, Wis. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary; step-dad, Steve Burke; his father; and one nephew, Frank Morton, Jr. "He is a timeless example".
