Donald William Kensik, 64, Florence, Wis., passed away Saturday, April 26, 2008, at his home.
He was born June 17, 1943, in Chicago, Ill., son of the late Chester and Lillian (Virva) Kensik. On December 29, 1969, he married Barbara Wolfer in Wheaton, Ill. She survives.
Donald was a mail carrier in Illinois and after coming to Florence in 1978 worked for Allen Dock and retired from Johnson Creek Lumber, Tipler. He was a Vietnam Era veteran of the U.S. Army and a member of the American Legion Post No. 211, Florence. Don was a movie buff, enjoyed time with his family, especially his grandchildren, was a smart dresser and had a penchant for clothes shopping which he enjoyed doing for himself and others.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara Kensik; son-in-law, Andrew (Rebecca) Kelley; four grandchildren, Amber, Andrew, Marshall, and William Kelley, all of Florence; and two sisters, Diane Kensik, Naperville, Ill., and Marge (Dom) Minervini, Westmont, Ill. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Anna Kelley in 2002, and three brothers, Robert, LeRoy and Chester Kensik.
Visitation will be 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Thursday, May 1, 2008, at the Jacobs-Lundholm Funeral Home, Florence. The funeral mass will be Thursday 11:00 a.m., at the funeral home. Rev. Michael Betley will officiate. Inurnment will be in the St. Mary Cemetery, Commonwealth, Wis.
