Don A. Spanton, age 67, passed away Wednesday, November 17, 2004, at his home in Theodore, Al.
Mr. Spanton was born January 17, 1937, in Iron Mountain and graduated from Kingsford High School in 1955. He served in the Army National Guard for several years. He owned and operated the family business, Modern Laundry and Cleaners, for nearly 30 years before his retirement. Don was a member of the Kingsford Masonic Lodge for many years, and was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church in Iron Mountain. Don enjoyed skiing, traveling, watching football games and working on outdoor projects.
Don is survived by three daughters; Dawn (Scott) Pierce of Kingsford, Sue (Neftali) Ocasio of So. Elgin, Illinois, and Cindy (Brian) Hurkmans of Kingsford; five grandchildren, Brian Pierce of Kingsford, Alex and Jason Ocasio of So. Elgin,IL, Jessica and Bryce Hurkmans of Kingsford, a brother Fred Spanton of Republic, a special friend Shirley Edmondson of Theodore; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents Harold and Melba Spanton.
At Mr. Spanton's request, there will be no formal services. A family memorial will be announced at a later date.
