Dolores Ann "Dee" Mariucci, 76, of Iron Mountain, Mich., passed away Tuesday, August 14, 2007, at Marquette General Hospital in Marquette, Mich., after a courageous battle with cancer.
She was born April 3, 1931, in Escanaba, Mich., daughter of the late Alfred and Agnes Hart. She graduated from Gladstone High School in 1949.
Dolores married Ray Mariucci on January 24, 1953. They celebrated their Golden Anniversary on January 24, 2003.
She belonged to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Iron Mountain, and at one time served as the President of the Women's Guild and on the board of directors of the Catholic School. In 1950, she was selected "Queen of the North" and honored in the Upper Peninsula and downstate. Dolores was also honored as "The First Lady of Dickinson County" by the Beta Sigma Nu Sorority in 2003.
Dolores was employed as a dental assistant in the early 1950's, and later worked in several local business establishments. Eventually, her main occupation, which she loved, was raising her six children with care, devotion, and perpetual love. Her priority became her family, she would say this is not work, but a joyful pleasure.
Dee had a passion for cooking, nobody left her house hungry. Another great joy for Dee was relating with her many friends with compassion and generosity. When time permitted, she was willing to babysit for her friends' children and put in much time with them. Dee related to children beautifully, and likewise to her many adult friends. She will be greatly missed by all.
She is survived by her husband, Ray; three sons, Steve (Gayle) Mariucci, Monte Sereno, Calif., Michael (Bonnie) Mariucci, Flint, Mich., Robert (Lisa) Mariucci, Templeton, Calif.; three daughters, Donna Ayotte, Marquette, Cheryl (Ray) Hosking, Marquette, Sandra Mariucci, Marquette; three sisters, Connie (Bill) Beveridge, Escanaba, Mich., Diane (Clay) Robinson, Breitung Twsp., Mich., Luella (Robert) Besch, Channing, Mich.; one brother, Dave (Betty) Hart, Verona, Wis.; twelve grandchildren, Bobbie & Ryan Ayotte, Christopher Fedrizzi, Tyler, Adam, Stephen, & Brielle Mariucci, Alissa & Joey Mariucci, Haylee, Taylor, & Olivia Mariucci; many nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, Dolores was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert and Don.
