Obituary

Dennis W. Gruner, 64, of Perronville, Mich., passed away Monday, September 12, 2011, at Dickinson County Healthcare System, Iron Mountain. He was born September 23, 1946, in Coldwater, Mich., son of the late Warren and Rolene (Keeslar) Gruner. Dennis grew up on a dairy farm in Coldwater. He graduated from Cold Water High School, Class of 1965. After graduation, Dennis went on to serve in the United States Marine Corp for four years. He served in two tours of duty during the Vietnam War. Dennis married Patricia Lucas on December 18, 1966, in Sherwood, Mich. She survives. Upon being honorably discharged in 1969, Dennis returned to Michigan and in 1971, became a police officer. He worked for St. Joseph County, Forsyth Township, and most recently for the Negaunee City Police Department, retiring in 2000. Dennis and Patricia moved to Perronville in 2005 and resided there since. He enjoyed many hobbies including, hunting, fishing, the outdoors, and especially spending time with his family and friends. He is survived by his loving wife of forty-four years, Patricia; two sons, Tom (Melinda) Gruner, Tulsa, Okla., Erik (Valerie) Gruner, Jacksonville, N.C.; one daughter, Melissa (Scott) McLenithan, Two Harbors, Minn.; two brothers, Greg (Linda) Gruner, Angola, Ind., Gerald Gruner, Portage, Mich.; one sister, Lee (Robert) Pavlov, Bronson, Mich.; three grandchildren, Michael and Patrick Gruner, Mellissa Kiekhafer; one great-grandson, Taran Gruner. Private family visitation and services were held.
