Apple Valley, Calif.: Delphine E. Zyskowski, age 76, died Saturday, December 16, 2006, at her home in Apple Valley after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer's disease.

She was born in Kingsford, Mich. on December 10, 1930, daughter of the late Elsa (Ojala) and Arthur Holm.

Delphine grew up in Amasa, Mich. and upon graduating from Amasa High School in 1947 moved to West Allis, Wis. and became a secretary for the Allis-Chalmers Manufacturing Company. On June 24, 1950, she married Walter Zyskowski of Iron River. The couple made their home in Chicago for a short period, later returning to the Upper Peninsula. In 1964 they moved to southern California, residing in Tustin and following retirement moved to Apple Valley in the California high desert where Delphine lived the remainder of her life. She worked as a housekeeper in Tustin at the Hacienda Retirement Home. Although Delphine resided in California for many years, Amasa always remained "back home".

Survivors include her husband, Walter Zyskowski, Apple Valley; five children, Mark (Wendy) Zyskowski, Lori Oliver, all of Apple Valley, Paul (Linda) Zyskowski, Big Bear Lake, Calif., Mary (Wes) Vanderpool, Garden Grove, Calif., Michael (Angel) Zyskowski, Crystal Falls, Mich.; 10 grandchildren, five great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Jack Holm.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, December 19, 2006 in Apple Valley. Graveside services will take place in the spring at the Hematite Cemetery, Amasa.
