David S. McDonald, 72, of Kingsford, passed away Saturday, April 26, 2014, at Manorcare Health Services, Kingsford.
He was born July 21, 1941, in Newberry, Mich., son of the late George and Florence (Moore) McDonald. David grew up in Grand Rapids, Mich., and later moved to Charlotte (Lower Michigan). In 2003, he moved to Republic, Mich., and most recently moved to Kingsford.
David enjoyed many hobbies including fishing, camp fires, driving in the woods looking for bear and moose, watching television and always could be found helping someone, telling scary stories to the grandchildren and just pulling pranks.
He is survived by three daughters, Wendeline (Don) Janovsky, Iron Mountain, Katie (Jeff) Valez, Eaton Rapids, Mich. and Tamara (Luca) Peruzzo serving in Italy; one brother, Albert (Marsha)McDonald, Charlotte, Mich.; one sister, Lois Miller, Charlotte, Mich.; eleven grandchildren; one great-grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents David was preceded in death by five brothers and one sister.
Visitation will be Saturday, May 3, 2014, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the Jacobs Funeral Home, Iron Mountain. The American Legion Uren Cooper-Johnson Post No. 50 will accord Military Honors Saturday, 10:45 at the Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Saturday, 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Rev. Andrew Filizetti will officiate. Burial will be in Norway Township Cemetery.
