Obituary

On March 22, 2008, David Michael Bandt lost his long battle with cancer and left his earthly family to join his Father in Heaven. Born November 19, 1969, beloved son of Robert and Kathy, he attended Iron Mountain schools throughout his life except for a short time in Greenwood, South Carolina, where he graduated from high school. After graduating from Michigan Tech with a degree in Mechanical Engineering he spent the next seven years in Minnesota doing work that he loved in predictive maintenance, eventually publishing an article in the technical magazine Practicing Oil Analysis . He returned to the Iron Mountain area in 2004. David loved his dogs, and especially doing things with his son Max. While he was able to, they spent time together walleye fishing, drag racing, and watching and coaching his hockey games. Inseparable while he was growing up, they spent hours working on Dad's beloved Mustangs, which he raced in various tracks around the country. Prior to becoming ill David was in the process of building a car for the national racing circuit and obtaining corporate sponsorship, but was never able to realize his dream. Throughout his long illness David served as an inspiration to all who met him. His ready smile, unfailing sense of humor, and warmth endeared him to all whose lives he touched. Never complaining or bitter, he showed us how to live and die with dignity. He is survived by his son Maxwelle; his mother and step-father, Kathy and Jim (Spinner) Tomosaski, Norway; his devoted Mimi (Margaret (Peg) Bandt), Iron Mountain; grandmother Sally Heinitz, Colgate, Wis.; loving step-sister, Tami (Corey) Miller, Norway; step-brother, Jamie Tomasoski, Mississippi; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins. He also leaves the love of his life, Rachael Severson, Appleton, Wis. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert. David was also blessed to have so many special people in his life: Aunt Peg and Uncle Bob Gingrass, Iron Mountain; devoted cousins, Alexis (Tony) Vicenzi, Iron Mountain, Jennifer (Brett) Nepper, Chicago, Ill., Daniel (Becky) Warner, Richfield, Wis.; and "adopted family members" Carol and Jim Ries, Kingsford, Mich . He also had some very special friends in Kirk Pietrantonio, Tony Benzie, Jay Stevens, and Sandy Peterson, as well as Greg, Darrell, Mark, Eric, and a faithful circle of friends in the Midwest Mustang Association who were like family to him. We will never forget your kindness, support, and concern. David attended Bethany Lutheran Church of Norway. A memorial of his earthly life and celebration of passage into the next will be held at Bethany Lutheran Church 11:00 AM, Saturday, March 29, 2008. Pastor Michael Langlois will officiate. A luncheon will follow. There will be no interment.
