Florence- Daniel C. Howell, 74, of Florence, Wis., passed away Monday, February 24, 2020, at Florence Health Services, Florence, Wis.
He was born on June 30, 1945, in Stambaugh, Mich., son of the late Wesley and June (Jones) Howell. Daniel managed the Kentucky Fried Chicken in Green Bay, Wis. as well as the Northwoods Supper Club in Land O' Lakes, Wis. and later in life he founded Howell's Maple Ridge (maple syrup farm) in Florence County. He found profound pleasure as a woodsman and with culinary skills in the kitchen.
Daniel will be lovingly remembered by family and friends for his hardy sense of humor and gregarious demeanor.
He is survived by his son, Daniel J. Howell, Englewood, Colorado; two daughters: Kristina (Thomas) Korpi, Iron River, Mich. and Jennifer Howell, Copper City, Mich.; former spouse: Regina (Robert) Goebel, Rapid River, Mich.; one brother, Wesley (Laura) Howell, Holiday, Florida; three sisters, Bonita (Dennis) Moericke, Appleton, Wis., Barbara Welch, Marinette, Wis., and Idalisa (James) Ritchie, Long Lake, Wis.; two grandchildren Jessica and Christopher; and by numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Wednesday, March 4, 2020, from 10:30 am. until 12:00 p.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church, Florence, Wis. The VFW Post #3635 Florence will accord military honors, Wednesday, prior to the Mass. The Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, 12:00 p.m. at the church. Rev. Fr. Timothy Brandt will officiate. Burial will take place in Long Lake Cemetery in the spring.
