Obituary

Crystal Falls: Dale K. Brooks, age 72, of Crystal Falls, Mich. died Tuesday, May 24, 2005 at the Iron County Community Hospital, Iron River, Mich. He was born May 29, 1932 in Wabeno, Wisc. son of the late Lionel and Rose (Anesi) Brooks. On July 14, 1956 he married the former Shirley Bell. She survives. Dale was a veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard in the Korean War and was a member of the Tufts - Rondon Post No. 2891 Veterans of Foreign Wars, Crystal Falls. Dale was a pilot and a member of the AOPA (Aircraft Owners Pilots Association) and a life member of the EAA (Experimental Aircraft Association). He was a licensed gunsmith and member of the NRA and had a passion for hunting, fishing and flying. He was a member of the Knight of Columbus. Survivors include his wife, Shirley Brooks, Crystal Falls and Hoffman Estates, Ill.; two daughters, Valerie (Randy) MacSwain, Wrightstown, Wisc., Vanessa (Sergio) Rodriguez, DesPlaines, Ill.;one brother Dwaine (April) Brooks, Charlotte, Mich; one sister, Shirlee Brooks Stacy, Elgin, Ill; and two step-grandchildren, Ryan and Paul MacSwain. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Ernest Lionel Brooks and his step-father Alex Zdravecky. The Funeral Mass will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 27, 2005 at Guardian Angels Catholic Church, Crystal Falls. Rev. Fr. Dino Silvestrini will officiate. Burial will be in the Evergreen Memorial Cemetery with military rites to be performed. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. Friday until the time of services at the church.
