Obituary

Coralie Cederna Johnson, 86 of Jackson, Michigan died peacefully at her home on Wednesday, August 26, 2026.

Coralie Ann Cederna was born on Thanksgiving Day, November 23, 1939, in Stambaugh, Michigan to John A. Cederna and Carrie (Weirmack) Cederna.

She graduated from Stambaugh High School, earned a BA in Human Resource Management from Concordia College and a master’s degree in Women’s Studies from Eastern Michigan University. She taught as an adjunct lecturer for the EMU Women and Gender Studies Program. She retired from office management at the University of Michigan after 20 years.

Coralie was a writer, and author, professor, and lover of everything U.P. Her passion was music and the arts, and she was immersed in theatre throughout her life. She enjoyed the outdoors, animals, and especially her beloved dogs.

Coralie and James Johnson were married in Jackson, Michigan in 1989. They enjoyed afternoon drives, bird watching, following University of Michigan football, and traveling to be with family. Their grandchildren enjoyed their crafting time with “granny bear.”

She is survived by her loving husband, James Johnson, children: Paul (Paula) Jacobs, Peter (Gail) Jacobs, Tamara (Leslie Riester) Sorelli, Carrie (Ben) Sayer, Teresa Klaassen (Dan Peterson), Andrea (Rob) Johnson, grandchildren: Bryan (Linda) Jacobs, Allison (Ryan) Anderson, Jaclyn (Jon) Gray, Logan Sayer, Paige Sayer, Hunter (Meaghan) Klaassen, and Isaac, Norah, and Hannah Johnson, and great-grandchildren Lila, William, Genevieve, Sloane, August, and Daisy. She is also survived by siblings Corinne LaLuzerne, Connie Piernick, James (Carol) Cederna, and Jerold (Joyce) Cederna.

Coralie was preceded in death by her parents and brothers John (Pat) Cederna and Jay Cederna.

The family would like to give special thanks to Optimal Care Hospice and to Coralie’s faith family at Grace Church Sagola.

Visitation will be Saturday, September 12, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at Grace Church Sagola with a celebration of life to follow. Burial will be in the Stambaugh Cemetery.
