Florence: Cora M. (Richards) Johnson age 90, of Crystal Falls, MI, died Monday, September 22, 2003, at Florence Villa in Florence, Wisconsin. Cora was born November 6, 1912, in Cuyuna, Minnesota, daughter of the late Charles and Annie (Dahl) Richards. She served in the US Army during World War II, obtaining the rank of Army Captain. She married Walfred Johnson in August of 1947, and they lived in Iron River and Crystal Falls, MI. Walfred preceded her in death in May of 1982. Cora was a nurse during WWII and also worked as a nurse for Crystal Falls Community Hospital. She was a member of the American Legion Post No. 87 of Crystal Falls for fifty-nine years. Cora is survived by two sisters, Genevieve Mariucci and Lucille Florence both of Iron Mountain, MI, and many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husband Walfred, Cora was preceded in death by five brothers, Bill, Edward, Clifford, Alvin, and Robert. Private family visitation services were held. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery in Crystal Falls, Michigan.
