Niagara: Cody Ray DePas, age 15, of Niagara, passed away Wednesday, September 21, 2005, at his home surrounded by his family after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born April 1, 1990, in Iron Mountain, the son of Greg DePas and Sharon (Smart) Antonissen. He attended Niagara High School and was in the sophomore class. Cody was involved in soccer, Olympic weight lifting, and Youth Futures. He was also treasurer of his freshman class. Some of his hobbies were hunting, fishing, camping, skiing, snowboarding, spending time at his lake property building his tree house. He also loved carpentry, working with farm equipment and raising his chickens. Cody further enjoyed four-wheeling, snowmobiling and old cars and tractors. He also was a member of the 4 H club Oak Pastures Chapter. Survivors include his father Greg DePas; mother Sharon Antonissen; step-father David Antonissen; two brothers Casey Antonissen, David Antonissen; three sisters Sarah DePas, Hannah Antonissen, Julia Antonissen; grandparents Louis & Kathy DePas, Arlene (Fran LaFave) DePas, David and Betty Smart, Tom & Sylvia Piche, Henry and Jane Antonissen, and great grandma Lena Piche; many Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, other relatives and friends. Visitation will be Monday, September 26, 2005, from 3 – 6p.m. at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Kingsford. Funeral services will be at 6:00p.m. at the church. Pastor Chad Ott will officiate. A Memorial in Cody's name has been established by the family.
