Obituary

Clinton L. Davis, age 86, of Crystal Falls, died Sunday, January 22, 2006 at the Iron County Community Hospital, Iron River. He was born March 7, 1919 in Crystal Falls, son of the late Paul and Ione (Worden) Davis, Sr. On April 17, 1945 in Crystal Falls he married Margaret Johnson. She survives. Clinton graduated from Forest Park High School, class of 1937. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy Air Corps and later transferred to the U.S. Marine Air Corp. serving as a pilot in World War II from 1942 to 1946. In 1947 he owned and operated the Davis Flying Service offering G.I. flight training and Charter Service at the Dr. A.L. Haight Airport until 1952 when he was called back in the service for the Korean War. In 1954 he was honorably discharged with the rank of Captain, U.S. Marine Air Corps, Marines Bombing Squadron VMB-611. He was a member of the Tufts-Rondon Post No. 2891 Veterans of Foreign Wars, Crystal Falls. In 1954 he joined his brother Richard in the construction business and continued with him until 1967 when Richard passed away. He continued with the business until 1998 when he retired. Survivors include his wife, Margaret Davis, Crystal Falls and they celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on April 17, 2005. He is further survived by many nieces, nephews other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, John, Paul, Richard, and Russell Davis, and one sister, Ione Davis. Visitation will be Wednesday, January 25, 2006 from 4:00 - 6:00 p.m. at the Jacobs-Plowe Funeral Home, Crystal Falls. Private family funeral services will be held Thursday, January 26, 2006 at the Christ United Methodist Church, Crystal Falls. Rev. Stephen E. Rhoades will officiate. Burial will be in the spring at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery, Crystal Falls. There will be a Pass-in-Review by the East Side Veterans Council Wednesday, 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
