Obituary

Clifford M. Church, 85, of Aurora, passed away Tuesday, July 5, 2011, at his home. He was born on February 16, 1926, in Aurora, son of the late Glenn and Gertrude (Cardinal) Church. Cliff was a lifelong resident of Aurora. He served in the United States Army in the 10th Mountain Division during World War II. He married Charlotte Hughes on May 10, 1958, at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, Kingsford. She preceded him in death on May 2, 2005. Cliff owned and operated Church's Garage in Aurora for many years and later went to work with his father in the logging industry. A few years later he was a mechanic at Doucette's Garage and finally worked as a millwright with the local Union for 23 years, retiring in 1988. He was a member of VFW Post No. 3635 of Florence. Cliff enjoyed hunting, trout fishing, making maple syrup, exploring for ginseng as well as growing it, and also had an interest in exploring for gold. Cliff is survived by two sons, Ted (Sherrie) Johnson, Glen Church, both of Aurora; two daughters, Linda (Bob) Fraker, Lisa (Art) Breithaupt, both of Aurora; two brothers, Gordon (Helen) Church, Aurora, William (Florence) Church, Fence; one sister, Margie DeClark, Kingsford; nine grandchildren, Glenn and Samantha Church, Kevin Fraker and Jackie Fraker, Tracie Johnson, Tammy Johnson, Aaron, Brooke, and Ryan Breithaupt; six great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. Besides his parents and wife, Cliff was preceded in death by one brother, Roger Church; and daughter-in-law, Roxanne Church in 2009. A graveside service will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 9, 2011, at Aurora-Homestead Cemetery, Homestead, Wis. Rev. Douglas Johnson will officiate. The VFW Post No. 3635 of Florence will accord military honors at graveside. You may light a candle in remembrance of Cliff or leave a condolence for his family at www.JacobsFuneralHomes.com.
