Clifford "Chick"A. Ball, 78, of Alpha, Mich., passed away Saturday, February 8, 2014, at Northstar Health System, Iron River, Mich. He was born December 22, 1935, in Alpha, son of the late Walter and Pauline (Angeli) Ball. Chick grew up in Alpha graduated from Alpha High School. He served in the U.S. Army and later enlisted in the U.S. Air Force where he served for many years retiring from there. Upon being discharged from the service he moved back to Alpha and worked doing carpentry jobs in the area. Chick served on the Alpha council, Mastodon Township Zoning and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He is survived by three sons, Clifford, Alpha, Michael and David Ball, both of Abilene, TX.; one daughter, Tracy Verillo, Abilene; four brothers, Walter (Janice) Ball, Crystal Falls, Robert (Dee) Ball, Alpha, James (Kathy) Ball, Crystal Falls and Larry (Peggy) Ball, Dover, Del.;numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Chick was preceded in death by one brother Albert and one sister Judy. In accordance with Chick's wishes private family services were held.
