Obituary

Clem Joseph Jauquet, 88, of Iron Mountain, died peacefully on Tuesday, March 4, 2008. He was born August 28, 1919, in Sagola, Mich., son of the late Clem and Josephine (Ferry) Jauquet. Clem was raised in Sagola and graduated from Channing High School in 1937. Clem served his country proudly during World War II in the US Army infantry from 1942 to 1945. He worked for the VA Hospital as a supervisor of motor transportation until he retired in 1979. Clem resided in Iron Mountain until his death. He was a loving and generous man who reached out and touched many lives. He enjoyed times at camp with family and friends, especially Wednesday night smear games. Clem also enjoyed meeting his buddies for early morning coffee. He will be forever remembered in the hearts of those who loved and knew him. On January 1, 2003, he married his long-time, loving companion, Shirley, and she survives him. In addition to his wife, Shirley, Clem is survived by four daughters, Sister JoAnn Jauquet, Gladstone, Mich., Jenny (Howard) Carpenter, Iron Mountain, Susan (Harry) Winkelspecht, Green Bay, Wis., Tricia Jauquet, Valparaiso, Ind.; two sons, John (Trudy) Jauquet, South Lake, Tex., Clem (Carol) Jauquet, Eagan, Minn.; three step-sons, Allan (Bonnie) Wilke, Huntsville, Ala., Randy (Sandy) Wilke, Steve Wilke, both of Iron Mountain; three brothers, Joseph (Betty) Jauquet, Ashland, Wis., Herbert "Hub" Jauquet, Channing, Mich., Jim (Joyce) Jauquet, Sagola, Mich.; two sisters, Geraldine Bushman, Milwaukee, Wis., Marian Finger, Baraboo, Wis.; 12 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren; special friends, Jack Raffin, Pete Curtis, Geno Maraccini, Chuck Stevenson, Jerry Piatti. Besides his parents, Clem was preceded in death by a sister, Katherine Flaherty, as well as several brothers and sisters-in-law, and his first wife, Helen Jane. Visitation will be Saturday, March 8, 2008, from 9:00 am to 11:00 am at the Jacobs Funeral Home, Iron Mountain. American Legion Post No. 50 will offer a veterans memorial service Saturday 11:00 am, at the funeral home. Immediately following the veterans service, a memorial service will be held at the funeral home. Fr. Arnold Grambow of All Saints, Gladstone, and Rev. David Anderson will officiate.
