Kingsford- Christine A. Santi James, 77, of Kingsford, Mich., passed away Tuesday, May 12, 2026, at her home.

She was born July 27, 1948, in Iron Mountain, Mich., daughter of the late James and Lucille (Klatt) Santi. Christine grew up in Iron Mountain and graduated from Iron Mountain High School in 1966. Following graduation, she attended Bay College and earned her LPN degree. She worked at Dickinson Hospital and Freeman Nursing Home before returning to school to earn her RN degree. Christine then worked for the VA Hospital in Iron Mountain and Milwaukee before moving to Panama City, Florida, where she continued working as an RN for Bay Hospital.

Christine married Irving James on February 28, 1988, in Florence, Wisc. Following marriage, they resided in Florence, where Christine worked as an RN at the Iron River Care Center and then at Florence Health Services as the Director of Nursing, retiring in 2011. After retiring, she and Irving moved to Iron Mountain. Irving preceded her in death on September 1, 2016.

Christine was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and enjoyed knitting, playing pool, bowling, shopping, and going to the casino. She loved to travel, even going to Italy with her sister, Louise.

Survivors include her son, James Freeman, Amasa, Mich.; one grandson, James Kosiba Freeman; one granddaughter, Tori Elam; and friends, Barbara Clemo, Nancy Henley, and Ron Hakla.

In addition to her parents and husband, Christine was preceded in death by her sister, Louise Santi.
