Christine Laura Giachino, age 97, of Iron Mountain, passed away Wednesday, March 15, 2006 at Freeman Nursing and Rehabilitation Community in Kingsford. She was born December 18, 1908 in Iron Mountain, daughter of Jacob and Magdalena Schwei. She was married to August Giachino; he preceded her in death in 1967. Christine was a life long resident of Iron Mountain residing on Grand Blvd. for many years. She also enjoyed living at Washington Court. Christine cherished the many friendships she made throughout her life. She will especially be remembered for her delicious homemade cooking and baking. She was a woman of deep faith, attending Mass daily. She derived comfort and strength from her religious beliefs and lived her life accordingly. She was a member of the Third Order of St. Francis. Survivors include a nephew, Robert (Marjorie) Stiglitz of Waukesha, WI, a niece, Mary Ann Stiglitz of Elm Grove, WI, as well as other relatives and friends. Visitation will be Saturday, March 18, 2006, from 8:00 - 8:30 a.m. at Jacobs Funeral Home in Iron Mountain. Prayers will be recited at 8:30 a.m. The Funeral Mass will be Saturday, at 9:00 a.m. at St. Mary and St. Joseph Catholic Church in Iron Mountain. Fr. Dan Zaloga will officiate.
