Obituary

Niagara-Charles G. Paquette, age 80, of Niagara, Wis., passed away Thursday, May 17, 2018, with his family by his side.

He was born August 18, 1937, in Iron Mountain, Mich., son of the late Clifford and Sophie (Erickson) Paquette. Charles was a graduate of Kingsford High School, Class of 1955. He proudly served in the United States Army from May of 1956 until his honorable discharge in April of 1959. On July 21, 1956, in Kingsford, Mich., Charles was united in marriage to Barbara Schuls. They lived in Georgia for a year and a half before moving to Kingsford for 3 years. Following Kingsford, they resided in South Milwaukee for a few years, and St. Francis, Wis. for 15 years before permanently moving to Niagara in 1979. Charles worked as a heavy equipment operating engineer for the Union, both in St. Francis and also when living in Niagara. He also worked for Scott Morin Excavating and the Township of Niagara.

Charles enjoyed hunting, fishing, tinkering with small engines of all kinds, his dogs Lee and Foxy, but most of all he cherished the time spent with his children and grandchildren.

Survivors include his loving wife of 61 years, Barbara; one son, Allie (Becky) Paquette, Niagara, Wis.; one daughter, Veronica (Howard Butterfield) Dixon, Niagara, Wis.; one sister, Iuils Baulding, California; eight grandchildren, Kelly, Amanda, Angela, Aimee, Travis, Alexander, Dan and Michelle; 11 great-grandchildren; and numerous special nieces, nephews, brothers in law and sisters in law.

In addition to his parents, Charles was preceded in death by one daughter, Lori Moriarity; one son, Charles Paquette Jr.; four brothers, Clifford, Robert "Tike", Al and Dennis "Den"; and by one sister, Joyce Tautges.

Visitation will be held Thursday, May 24, 2018, from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at the Jacobs Funeral Home-Niagara Chapel. Prayers will be recited Thursday, 11 a.m. at the funeral home. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday, 11:30 a.m. at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Niagara. Rev. Fr. Matt Settle will officiate. Burial will be in Niagara Cemetery, Niagara, Wis. The American Legion Cretton-Tutis Post #136 of Niagara, along with the Iron Mountain American Legion Uren-Cooper Johnson Post #50, will accord military honors at graveside.
