Florence:
Charles A. Crago, age 72, of Florence, Wisconsin, passed away Sunday, September 26, 2004, at St. Vincent's Hospital in Green Bay, Wisconsin.
He was born in Florence, Wisconsin, April 29, 1932, the son of the late Charles and Eva (Lund) Crago. He attended and graduated Florence High School in 1950. He attended the University of Wisconsin at Whitewater and obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business. On December 27, 1952, he married Darlene Sundberg at the First Presbyterian Church of Iron Mountain. He was a teacher and a coach in Goodman . In 1965, they moved to Escanaba, where Chuck held a career in the Hardwood Veneer Lumber Industry, along with serving as Vice President of sales for Clairmont Transfer Company. They also lived in Wausau, Wisconsin and later Iron Mountain until moving to Lake Emily in 1987. He was the Manager of Goodman Forest Industries Limited from 1983 to 1997.
Charles was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Florence as well as Grace United Methodist Church in Englewood, Florida. He was also a 25 year member of the Escanaba Elks Club, Pine Grove Country Club, and the first president of the Lakes States Lumber Association. Chuck enjoyed many hobbies including golfing, bowling, hunting, fishing and singing.
Survivors include his wife, Darlene, two sons Jeff (Gayla) Crago of Florence, and Mike (Debbie) Crago of Florence;, two daughters Kim (Kent) Richmond of Florence, and Kathy (Henry) Isabelle of West Bend, Wisconsin; six grandchildren Rachael Richmond, Lindsey Johnson, Amanda Johnson, Henry Isabelle Jr., Autumn Crago, and Bryce Crago; and one great grandchild Vincent Charles.
Visitation will be Wednesday, September 29, 2004, from 4 – 8 p.m. at the Jacobs Funeral Home in Iron Mountain. Funeral services will be held Thursday, September 30, 2004, at 11:00 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Florence. Pastor Doug Johnson will officiate. Burial will be in Commonwealth Cemetery.
