Iron Mountain:
Catherine Paupore, age 85, of Iron Mountain, passed away Monday, February 28, 2005, at her home surrounded by her family.
She was born November 17, 1919, in Wheeling, West Virginia, the daughter of the late William and Irene (Ingram) Chambers. She attended school in Florence, Wisconsin, Elm Grove, West Virginia, and New York, before attending Mount DeChantel in Wheeling, West Virginia where she graduated. While at Mount DeChantel Catherine was a gifted student and excelled in both the Arts and Music. She gave recitals on the local radio station in Wheeling. Catherine later went on to attend the University of Pittsburg where she received her degree in Business Administration. She married William Paupore on October 23, 1943, in Kingsford. They resided in the Iron Mountain Kingsford area since 1944. Catherine was a very loving person. She loved her family and people marrying into the family felt this love for them. Catherine was an active member of Holy Trinity Episcopal Church where she served on the Vestry for a couple of years. She was instrumental in bringing the Iron Mountain Kingsford Community Schools into the area. She was president of the AAUW, and the Iron Mountain Kingsford Women's Club, and an active member of the Royal Order of Eastern Star, Pine Mountain Music Festival and the Pine Grove Country Club. She enjoyed playing cards and was a member of the 500 Club, Push-it and many bridge marathons.
Survivors include her husband William, one son William (Mary) Paupore III of Kingsford, one daughter Irene (Bill) Manko of Iron Mountain, a daughter-in-law Gretchen Paupore of Germany, eight grandchildren Michelle (Sean) McConnelle, William Paupore the IV, Mark (Vickie) Paupore, Beth (Brad) Cardinale, Katie (Ryan) Weidner, Jim Manko, Mary Manko, and Carin Paupore, ten great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, Catherine was preceded in death by her son Thomas.
Visitation will be Friday, March 4, 2005, from 10 to 11a.m. at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in Iron Mountain. Funeral services will be Friday at 11a.m. at the church. Fr. Charles Piper will be officiating.
