Iron Mountain:
Catherine M. Halborg, 91, of Kingsford, Michigan, passed away Sunday, January 1, 2006, at ManorCare Health Services in Kingsford.
She was born March 25, 1914, in Imlay City, Michigan, daughter of the late Peter and Katharina (Walters) Adam. She married Carl J. Halborg in 1940, and he preceded her in death in 1972.
Catherine along with her husband Carl resided in New Baltimore, Michigan, until 1965, when they moved to Lost Lakes Woods Club in Lincoln, Michigan, near Alpena. After her husband's death, she resided at Lost Lake Woods Club until September of 2005, when she moved to ManorCare Health Services to be closer to her son Tom. Catherine was an active member of The First United Methodist Church in Alpena for many years. She enjoyed many hobbies including golfing, gardening, her special love for nature and the outdoors, and spending time with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and family.
She is survived by two sons, Jim (Jo) Halborg of Barrington, Illinois, and Tom (Estelle) Halborg of Iron Mountain; five grandchildren Carrie (Mike) Schaller, Midland, Julie (Andrew) Watkins, Iron Mountain, Craig Halborg, Colorado, Kim (Peter) Bowers, Barrington, Illinois, and Eric Halborg, Colorado, and eight great grandchildren.
Besides her parents and husband Carl, Catherine is preceded by a brother John Adam, two sisters Barbara Russell and Mary Servo.
Private family visitation and services were held.
Burial will be in White Chapel Cemetery in Troy, Michigan.
